Your first Lucid Dream

Since I was a child, I've experienced Lucid Dreaming - even before I knew what it was.  Since then, I have talked with many people concerning Lucid Dreams and more often than not, I get this;

"I tried before, read a book, got close, but never got it to work."

I will be honest with you, it's not easy.  Even with me, sometimes I've only had one once a month while sometimes I've gotten several in one day.  It depends on a lot of factors, but fortunately, there are many things you can do to "speed up the process". I will go over some basics today and continue tomorrow.

Dream diary

Now I know this one comes up a lot, but it's so true.  A dream diary helps in many different ways.  It helps you to lesson the effects of the "brain dump" that begins once you wake up.  It helps you to remember things in your dreams that if you see next time, may trigger you to become lucid.  It makes you think about lucid dreams which, believe it or not, helps.  I could go on and on.  I will expand on this in later posts.

Reality Checks

This is one of my favorite methods.  Dreams are constantly changing as they progress, even Lucid Dreams.  Your brain seems to have trouble remembering where certain items, people and places are many times, so it finds something similar and replaces it with that.  For example, you might look at a sign (I do this all the time) look another way, and when you look at it again it will either be gibberish or something completely different.  Make a habit of doing this during the day.  Every hour or so ask yourself , "am I dreaming?" and do a check.  Do the sign method, or glance at you watch, look away and then look at it again.  I, like I read from a book one time, check my hands.  If the pattern in my palms moved around, I am dreaming.  Try to avoid doing the last one too much or you might get some strange looks.

Talk about it with a friend

You would not believe how effective this one is!  Simply discussing it will many times trigger a Lucid dream.  How?  I'm not exactly sure, but it works.  Just talk about Lucid Dreaming in depth with your friend for a week, and many times it will happen.  That's how at least 2 good friends of mine got their first LD experience.  Try it out!

Try doing these basic techniques in combination to get the best effect.  Now, like I said before, these are basic techniques. So, for all the advance LDers out there, don't worry I'll have content for you as well.  As a fellow LDer myself, I'm curious about which techniques are most effective.  So please, if you get any results, please leave me a comment telling me what happen.

Until next time!
